We missed all of you who couldn't make it yesterday. That's okay, we had a great time without you!8
We talked about narrative and descriptive writing (pgs 81-91 and 137-145). You should read this to understand the characteristics of both genres of essays. We also should have read "Fish Cheeks" by Amy Tan (pg. 99-100) and "Shooting Dad" by Sarah Vowell (pg. 154-160). For Thursday's homework we should read "Champion of the World" by Maya Angelou (pg. 93-98) and we need to write a 2-3 page narration about a childhood event. Use the pieces you have read as models. Specific details, summary, direct quotes are all elements that make an effective narrative.
On Tuesday we will talk about the pieces and hopefully get a chance to share our narratives. We will also finally talk about the pieces we have read.
Can't wait to see you!
